I'm looking to buy this aftermarket part!!

A Lexus with the Smart Keyless Entry System can recognise its owner. As you approach, a transmitter in the door handle identifies your electronic key - even if it's in your pocket or a bag - and checks its unique ID code. If it matches, the door will click open the instant you touch the handle. You do not need to insert the key anymore to start the car, provided you have the electronic key with you. It's a convenient, high-security feature.
You then start the car with an engine start button only.

Have you guys ever come across such an system for sale as aftermarket?

I used it before in my brother's lexus gs300 and it was really nice. Once you get close to the car, the car doors unlock, you just pull the handle, get into the car, and press the engine start button to start the engine, then can drive off.

It uses RFID to identify the electronic key anywhere in your pocket or bag. With the electronic key, can also start car, but then you need a physical key. Doors lock automatically when you leave the car, or the rfid key goes out of range of the car.

Nobody knows?

Its really cool. You never need to insert key even to start car. Just sit in the drivers seat with the key in you bag or pocket, press the engine start button to start car only.

Hey there, Bro Prometheus,

I managed to track down a Latio for you.

It's using a transmitter that you can put in your pocket. In place of the ignition key hold, you have a short stub which you have to turn like a key to start the car:-

oooh.. thanks.. great info..

That means can just make an engine start button la.. ha ha.. rather cool.. All i need to do. is to get a similar alarm system, then the engine start button in the civic will be more practical.

They should have this for our FDs la!!

I'm surprised that the Latio has keyless entry/go as standard equipment. I though this is mostly reserved for more expensive/premium cars - Audi, BMW, Merc and above. Kudos to Nissan for putting in the local Latio, and for being able to keep price reasonable as well.

I don't foresee Honda Malaysia putting keyless entry/go for the our FD - not even for the mid-generation refresh. If they do, I can imagine the price going further up. Even the new Stream does not have it. Perhaps the new Accord coming in 2008 will have?

As for aftermarket keyless entry/go, I've not heard of anyone doing this. The installer will need to put sensor on the door handle to unlock the doors when you touch them with the key fob nearby (keyless entry).

this one will need starter, RFID tags, RFID receiver integration into the ignition as well as the security system of the car.. Very tricky, but if able to incorporate seamlessly, it will be well worth the investment.

i don't think we can put in our FD coz need to re-program ECU.
even type-r still don't have this feature.
the most we ccan do, is just install type-r engine start button, like i did.
but still need the key to turn on electrical system and to turn off immobilizer system.
