I changed front and back at 70K service last October. One of the supervisor, who I thought was a friend ( after going there for the past 7 years ) told me that ori pads would cost me about RM800.
So he offered me a cheaper alternative and I went for it. Being too kind is my weakness, I thought it was a win-win situation for the both of us. I would get cheaper pads and he would get some side income. Because I trusted him, I never really checked.
Now I'm at 97K and the rear brakes were making sound. I checked and the inner side is already scratching the disc, hence the yeeeee sound.
So I suspect that "my supervisor friend" must have cheated me by putting in new pads for the the front, and put used pads at the rear.
This morning I went to Lim Tayar, they ordered for me a pair. Price was RM170 plus RM15 installation.
I won't be so nice to people anymore. |

I called up 2 workshops to enquire the price for replacing the ori brake pads. One quoted RM280 (incl installation) while another said that the ori pads come in 2 grades, one premium one is over RM400 while the other is in the region of RM200.
Is it true that there are 2 grades for the original pads? I'm on 73k mileage and don't really drive hard, do I need a better set like EBC or Mu? |

IMO, there's no premium or local brand.. its just ori honda or copied ones only.. so if don't want to get conned, go to a trusted workshop for pads or honda sc.. or go for EBC, MU, etc.. _________________ ~ don |

I just change mine @ 40k, realize the ori stock pad still got 50% left
So the ori stock pad I am still keeping (well not to waste the 50%), and using EBC green now.
And I only change the front, since the ori honda front still got 50%, i bet the rear one even got more % left _________________ Take it easy =) |

It will kill ur rotor, better don't try!
If u want look for OEM brake pad replacement, braking performance on EBC green & PMU bestop are much better than OEM. (at least improve by 50% of friction coefficient)
Low noise & dust, good reliability & recognition! _________________ K20A i-Vtec
