Bro Ed and Gary,

Does the brake cooling vent actually channel some air into the fender area? How's the cooling project so far? Are your brakes noticably cooler?

Bro Ed,

After UY+BTBR, you must be loving your brake cooling system.

hi omni,

the CTR brake cooling intake scoop draws air fr the lower suspension arm & re-directs it to the inner central rotor area.

the only downside about the cooling plate is - i need to remind myself to keep the brakes warm or else if travel at 110kph consistently for 10-15m, the brakes become cold again ....

these would work great in a spirited drive such as UY or BTBR .....

hope tis helps....

Where did you go to install the intake scoop? Need to buy from Pentagon and install somewhere else?

bro gunk,
.
I'm having the holes as well similar to Ed's and Gary's but my brake system is stock except for SSBH only...
.
Diff? Hmm think it's more due to SSBH laa the braking feeling....anyhow, I suppose my braking can be relied on in times of needs

Nope, I didn't do the ventilation holes...yet to fit the air scoop for the brakes as well..a bit busy the last few weekends.

However I did a simple test by placing the scoop in front of aircon outlet vent inside the car...the scoops are very well designed, it deflects the air stream perfectly in a directional upward curve as intended when properly fitted in place.

My guess is that Honda R&D did their homework on this deflector design.

Keeping this thread alive to offset some disheartening posts.

Short FR on my VTTR brakes after using it for almost one month:

Somehow cold braking worse than stock probably coz of the temperature rating of the pads (50-550 degrees). However, once heated up brake pedal feel is awesome. I had tested emergency high speed braking from 110km/h on these brakes with no brake fade and ABS triggers only after slower speeds. The difference between stock brakes vs BBK is apparent in their bite levels even when using same pads. Very slight tap is needed to slow the car down.

The brakes gives you a sense of confidence that it will stop your car a lot quicker than the car in front of you. Some advice for other bros who want to go to BBK path as well:

1) Upgrade to stickier tyres to gain much better stopping power. Braking improvements should be substantial because stock brakes works well with the amount of grip the stock tyres has.

2) Consider using the same brake pad materials for front and rear if possible due to even brake bite across temperature ranges.

Hi all,

Having joined this forum for a while and reading all the interesting stuffs here, I must say that I've gained a lot of knowledge with regards to the 8th Gen Civic.

And this is one of the threads that have captivated my attention most of the time as I find every piece of information discussed herein extremely useful.

However, being a newbie, I would like to ask something:

I planned to upgrade my brakes to the VTTR 6-pot (Mini). But I'm still on stock 16" tires and rims.

Will the VTTR Mini be able to fit into my FD1?

If no, then I'll probably just have to focus on upgrading the Brake pads and SSBH.

Thanks to all in advance and your opinions & advice are all appreciated.

VTTR Mini will fit any FD1 or FD2 provided it comes preorder for a Civic FD with the correct bracket.

As for the stock16" i am not too sure as i know Mini would only clear for the stock 17" - probably need to have at least 17" stock to clear, but this has to be confirmed also by other bros who use it.

depends on your current wheel offsets as well as spoke design for fitment of the calipers not to touch the spokes ... if its minimal ... can just put 5mm spacers ...

then also need to consider the size of rotors u r upgrading to & how much the brackets place the calipers .... to make sure clearance on the top part not to touch the ceiling of rims walls...

hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your explanation guys.

It's very much appreciated. And I shall take into deep consideration as to what shall be done in due time.

On the other hand, if I would just like to upgrade to better Brake Pads and SSBH - which brands/types would you all recommend?

I am open to suggestions and I welcome all recommendations as I am a newbie and I certainly appreciate all the input that I can get here from all of you.

Thanks a lot.

SSBH : ProRS or Goodridge.
Disc : Project MU
Pads : Project MU or EBC Greenstuff

the above are the most common available for FDs here. cheers!

Hey thanks a lot, Netken.

Your infos would certainly come in handy for me.

Btw, would you (or anyone) be kind enough to let me know where (which car accessories workshops/outlets) - that I can go and get these pads, discs and SSBH?

It will definitely help me out a lot as I'm sure the places which you all recommend are most trusted and reliable.

Thanks again.
