My FD2 also coming to 60k soon.. do you mind explaining more how does this steering sound like?
I am afraid the symptom will surface in the ride also soon. |

today 17-12-2008, i sent my car to make warranty claim for steering rack.
The symptom: - when you turn your steering, it sound "tik-tik-tik" will come out. It is obvious especially during parking. It just sound like when drive shaft kaput.
My millage is 87K and it is FD2.
According to SA, this steering rack cost around 3K to 4K _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." |

Hi guys,
Sorry for reviving such an old thread. But I just want to check if it's the same problem I just noticed today.
While the car is moving and I turn the steering wheel to the left, there's a sound as if fluid is flowing out of something (is it the same sound as you guys post here?). I'd say it sounds like the aircond gas kicking in (if you know what I mean). After I parked the car, I squat at the right front wheel, and I heard constant sound as if fluid if flowing out non-stop.
Not sure if it's the engine/fluid settling down after the engine is turned off but later during the day I'm going to head over to check again at the car park.
It could be a punctured tyre, but I couldn't tell until later this evening. |

Bro, pls check your air cond water duct located below the glove compartment , under floor mat....SC guys will know where....the water duct could be jammed up so the air cond water is stuck in the outflow pipe...thats why when u take a corner ...usually turning left, you get a water bubbling sound...if u dont know it sounds like yr tyres go something stuck to it ...Do have a look....only my past experience....well, could be something else...u never know what our FDs can come up with...esp noise....huh....sad to say |

Thanks for the reply nickken. I'll definitely check that when I go to the SC.
Just to update on my situation. When I drove back yesterday night, the funny sound is gone. Turned left and right, nothing. Checked my driver side front tyre, also no sound after parking my car.
I think the sound is playing hide and seek with me. Haih...hopefully nothing major. |

Its a good thing you revived this thread. I had both the tick tick noises, plus this qwee qwee humming noises when I turn my steering. They replaced my rack, and the sound went away. That's was 5K km ago. Now, with the new rack, sound has returned even louder from the new rack. I'm tired of spending time to go fix it again.
What was the outcome of those of you who found this problem earlier and fixed it? |

just received my white ride fd1 yesterday.
suprisingly, damn fast noticed the noise came out from the steering or dash board(driver) area after i drove out from honda showroom heading to MRR2.. dissapointing on what qa systems HM applied
description:
sounds like something overtight..pvc to pvc clashing sound
the sound is not so obvious if you turn on your media set..
still thinking what is the problem and will inform the SC during my 1k service |

symptoms:
1.feels heavy when static with engine running while steer to left n right..my friend mentioned after test drive not me...
2. abnormal sound...continous sound coming from pump or anything related to power steering..u can heard from inside and outside during cruising or during parking if your radio volume is low
3. abnormal sound during steering to left and right with engine running but static... |

I have tick tick sound and grinding sound, but don't bother to fix it since is still functionable. My car just 8 weeks old. _________________ Best Regards,
