Hi, I created a servicing table after hearing so many horror stories of SC trying to make more $ out of us by doing unnecessary items.

The schedule is extracted from the honda manual + "Pls update ur servicing items" discussions here.

What i do i is staple it to my service book and tell the SC not to do any other replacements unless they inform me 1st.

The items 'Replace cabin filter' + 'Replace air filter' i put as no need cos i buy those things myself.

Pls feel free to update the items.

Dripinrain, good of you to create the table for benefit of members..At times we must put our foot down and not to be manipulated by SCs who are out to make more money ...actually HM should have more control over this servicing matter..

Hi guys
I also use sutera auto jb and they have the mileage and price cost on flip charts in the service dept for anyone to look at, but its ok knowing the charges but id like a breakdown of work carried out at each of the services so we can decide what to have done - for example they just done the 15000 on mine, yet i only done 10000 but ok this was only Rm 160 but the next is 20000 and cost they estimate to be around RM600+ be4 discount.
Well from info from this website i know that the AC filters wont need changing and thus save me over rm100+ just on labour for the AC plus the parts.

I do wish Honda like the uk would give full breakdown of the maintenance service for each service so you know what is going to done be4 u take it.

(not doubting honda) but i like to check the parts out and take photos be4 they do the service so i can check after if they have done it or not, and with the photo backup to compare.

One example (NOT WITH HONDA BUT WITH QUICK FIT IN UK) I took car for a complete tyre rotation cost was ten pounds. but be4 i went i got under car with bit of chaulk and marked each tyre1 to 5 icl spare.

went back hour later and told it was done be4 i paid i asked if they mind if i check found that they only did change on from two the other not moved - when i pointed it out they did the complete change while i watched and give it me free of charge. So it does pay to check.

good luck all
Regards

Fozzie

Oh oh.. i must mark my tires too then before they rotate it.

This reminds me of someone in forum suggesting marking the a/c filter too cos they might switch it.

Its good to know these tips that will keep our car in good condition.

Onli thing is how do we know they really changed our engine oil, or really used the synthetic oil we paid for instead of mineral oil ?

I wish honda allows us to be in the workshop floor, then things will be clearer.

dripinrain I agree it would be good to watch. but they say not safe. but what i do is turn chair while in the service office to watch my car, if lucky they use bay right in front of service office then i can keep eye on everything.

Honda s c i go to always gives me the part used containers to show which oils they used so have to take their word for it.

in fact i got three lots now so soon ill be able to return them all to use for one of the services lol (should be fun to see their faces lol)

HAVING SAID THAT - they have been very good to me so far, only last week my car was flooded and they removed all panels holding carpets and sucked water from under carpet, free of charged.

New ones should be here soon ye har smell old damp one will be gone.

Regards

Fozzie

If you know the mechanic/engineer well, you sure can. Good rapport is the key Wink

After missing item incident in 1 of the Honda SC last year, I now mark all my part and item. with indellible ink .. hahah.. just joking, but seriously - a marking pen. (gold/silver metallic marker).

another civic mugen owner that i met at honda sc also gives me this tip, after his civic's part also been changed to a different part while at sc.

this problem actually didn't only happen to honda sc only, all other sc also have this kind of problem, it's all goes back to the person integrity and honesty..

so, i'm not putting blame to honda sc, but to the dishonest staffs, that make our life a bit miserable having to go through all this precautionary steps to protect our own item.

why can't ppl be honest? hmm., are they underpaid? are they forced to do it? making few extra buck from it? i wonder sometimes..

bz ma.

Just serviced my ride recently ...followed my instincts and said "no" to a lot of "recommended" stuff.... which I now discover is actually only "optional" Smile......otherwise the bill would have come up to RM1k++!!!

Looks like we cannot rely on the SC advisors to honestly tell you what is really recommended and what is optional!!!

What kind of recommended stuffs? Care to share so we can discuss on this? A lot of optional stuffs that they recommend can also be sourced aftermarket where the prices are usually much cheaper.

They recommended to replace air filter, cabin filter, ATF oil, service air-cond and one other stuff also to do with air-cond. Shocked

Looks like less ride as your mileage only 1K but they still follow by month so kena a lot of stuffs need to change..

In future, do not sign anything before your ride go for service and everytime the SC will insist you to sign the service forms whereby we got the rights not to change the items. They like to die die forcing owners to change the items. Ask them to explain in details why this and that need to change and if we found unneccesary items, better avoid changing it.

Also in the form better state, check with owner before changing items that are not mentioned in the list otherwise we are not liability for extra cost Idea

Learnt my lesson until one fine day kena changed a set of spark plugs iridium NGK fully imported RM430+ /Aircond filter RM300+ / Air Filter RM300+ / Unknown parts costed a few bombs whereby no way to kena sabotage me in future Confused Exclamation
