just get info from SC, if ur car is new below 1k mileage and got the alignment problem, then the alignment is totaly free of charge. But, if already clocked more than 1k, then u have to pay for the cost lo.

kelvin, can the SC perform alignment? Or they send it to their subcon to do it? If so, i rather bring it to a tire shop then it's better.

Dont do your wheel alighment in Honda Service center. I did my in Honda service center and they charge my RM75 for the wheel alignment.

I would suggest you do it in tyre shop, it could save you a lot.

In Penang, Vivahill SC told me the wheel alignment+balancing is free for the first 3000Km mileage. I did my alignment adjustment there once during 1000km+ mileage. Job done inside the Service Center.

So they do have an alignment machine. Now sooner or later, whoever did their alignment outside shall have their warranty void.

Civic 87, which SC did you most frequent, Vivahill or KAH Motor at Sg. Pinang?

Yup.. they have alignment and balancing equipement there... at Vivahill SC.

So far I just went to Vivahill SC. I bought my car from Vivahill, so was automatically directed to Vivahill SC. I saw the booklet said if you are buying your car from elsewhere, you need an early appointment before you bring your car to Vivahill SC. If you buy your car from Vivahill, then you can just walk in for service. May be this is just a black and white, not sure if they really that strict or not.

That's good, you can just walk-in for a service. In Sg. Pinang they don't care whether your car is bought there or not, appointment comes first. Once i brought my Accord just to tighten a few bolts and nuts, they ask me to make an appointment. That's just don't make sense. Later filed a complaint to the SM.

I did my alignment for free on the first 1K km service. According to SC, you can request for alignment if you want to, FOC up to 10K/6 months sevice. After that gotta pay. But better check with your SC first, maybe different SC has different policy.

Does anyone know of any recommended, reliable and experience Honda SCs and Non Honda SCs that are able to do the wheel alignment with the correct spec and settings.

Especially so for the 2.0L which comes with EPS. Does the EPS require recalibration or a "reset" each time an alignment is done? - if so, which are the Honda and Non Honda SCs equipped with the tools/ equipment to carry this out?

Am curious as I remember reading from somewhere that this has to be done for the City IDSi/ Vtec EPS sys. Not sure if this applies for the Civic 2.0L EPS as well....

Feedback is appreciated.

Cheers

I have been driving the new 8G 1.8 Civic since Dec 06. From day 1 I took delivery of the car, I have noticed that it has an alignment problem where the car would pull to the left when you let go the steering. But I did not returned to the Sales Centre as it was pretty late at 7pm that day. Anyway, the Sales rep told me that its normal for new car to have alignment problem and 1st alignment repair is free. To my horror, I have did about 6 times of alignment repair to my car within the first 2 weeks my car is on the road. This will convince u that its not an alignment problem. Btw, I have changed the tyres to Falken (same profile) within the 1st week which I thought would reduce the noise of the spinning tyres.

Until today, the problem is not solved as Honda has taken the easy way out to blame it on my tyres. I have tried putting on original tyres and also other brands, but it still pulls to the left. But Honda does not believe me and has given me a letter to say that they have replace the camber which showed some improvement.

I have tried to get an inspection report from AAM but was tai chi to Consumer Tribunal. As expected was pushed around again by Consumer Tribunal.

Its already more than 6 mths now and I am running out of ideas and avenues. I just wanna get the problem fix. Any advise?

Hi Hightide,

Same case as mine when I collected mine at last Dec. Pulled to the left. Brought it bck for a service, then they told me was done. I took it to my friend's tyre shop for another inspection, yet got the same problem only is lesser this time around.

I didn't bother with it untill I lowered my ride height, then it was too serious. Later my friend did a simple tire swapped frm left to right, guess what problem solved.

Modulus,

Lucky for you to get it fixed just by swapping tyres. But i have swapped and crossed and even put on new tyres to tried it out. Its no good.

There was one tyre shop in Old Klang Rd which i went to get an opinion. We practically change everything but its still the same. So finally they used a measuring tape to measure the length of the front and back wheel. If my eyes serve me right, the left hand side is slighly shorter.

Anyway, I have just drafted my 3 page letter to Honda Malaysia. I am very lazy to go there and bang table again. Afterall, its to no avail. Let's c how it goes this time.
