Hi guys. Towards the end of this month, probably the 25th, I will be taking delivery of a Civic 2.0, Sparkle Grey.
Allow me to introduce myself. I am 45-years old, and this would be the second Honda I had used in my car-owning/assigned history. My previous Honda was the 1.7ES, it was sweet save for a few problems which could not be solved until I returned the car to my previous company (and yes, prosperity came a bit late for me )
My decision to get the Civic 2.0 is simple economics. I have used Continental marques before but owing to the slowing down of economy that had hit my company though not that badly, I guess the Civic would be the most practical choice for now and it is certainly the most good looking one, aside from the Mitsubishi Lancer GT. I had tested the GT and found the CVT gearbox a bit tame and I am not really into using paddle shifters for acceleration.
That's me in a nutshell... Hope to be interacting with you guys more soon as I get my ride. |

welcome bro Roh,
Age does not matters in this club.
People driving a civic is always young at heart.
I am a civic lover myself.
I driven an EG then an EK and now FD2. _________________

Thank you for the warm welcome guys... Anyway, towards the end of this month, it will be a sparkle grey pearl FD2 bearing registration number W*N 5151.
Just a few questions though...
1. The club decal, I'd read somewhere in the forum that it can be done at KL Auto, is my assumption right? (Desmond did the autofoam first time around when the product just hit the market, it was for my Perdana V6 with the Putrajaya registration... wonder whether he still remember me).
2. T-shirts - I am still not clear on method of collection. Is it from the club committee or during TTs or can it be collected from Desmond too?
Anyway, as for my ride, initially, nothing much planned. Will do the tint first (going to be Huper Optik, probably the C50 or C60 series, I prefer Huper Optik more to V-Cool, had a very unpleasant experience with the latter). The engine breathing system I am contemplating between a KN drop-in or the Simota filter charger system. I will go through the forum more.
As for the ICE, I am still open to options. My last ICE'd system comprised three Rockford Fosgate Amps (Punch series) - two amps driving the front speaker system (Rockfords) and 1 driving a 12" double-coiled RF subwoofer (Desmond was the one who taught me this configuration and it sounds better than multi-speakers set up... Check out his Volvo if it is still with him).
But for the first few days of ownership, it will be a race to get to the first service (I only have six days before Hari Raya and there will be a lot of travelling done). Therefore, I should only be able to join any TT sessions after mid of next month. Until then, cheers to all. |

Hey bro,
Conrats on your new ride and welcome to 8GCC. Hope u'll enjoy your new ride.
On the decal, I believe you can get them at KLAuto. Just fill up a form and pay RM 15 to get the decal. If Desmond doesn't have it, then pls PM any of our comittee to get them.
On the official club t-shirt, pls pm the comitte again to get more info as I'm not sure if its too late to place an order now (the first "new" batch of T-shirts have been ordered).
We are having our Annual Dinner next month on the 11th October in Sunway Pyramid at Republic. Pls join us for lots of fun event and of course, poisons from the members. Be it performance, cosmetic or ICE, there will be members who will be your kaki.
To know more of the club's events, do browse through the Upcoming Events thread cause we have a few TT sessions a month all around Klang Valley.
Cheers. |

My SA just called up. Looks like I may be able to get the car sometime in the middle of next week. Not bad, just about 14 days from order to potential delivery.... |

that is certainly quick... Anyway, I had to go hunting for the FD2 and almost dealerships throughout KL and Selangor told me the earliest I could (I had wanted black) would be mid-October... Other colours wait and see... I found a dealer which had more orders for FD1 instead of FD2 but no luck, they only had a Bronze Beige available.... That was when I opened up the color option to sparkle grey.
But as fate would have it, I was out having breakfast with my daughter the previous Sunday and we walked into the dealership just to try my luck... The SA there was very resourceful and managed to get me the sparkle grey... the rest is history.... But as they say, I will only believe it when I get the car. Incidentally, all my car purchases always centered near Hari Raya... wonder why... |

Finally I've collected my Civic - sparkling grey pearl - at exactly 6.30pm from Kosmokars in Glenmarie. Was supposed to pick it up last week but I was a lot held up due to work. Anyway, here are my initial observations from the rather shortish drive I had from Glenmarie to my home:
Pluses:
1. Torque - lovely.
2. PDI - quite okay except for a swirl mark on the boot.
3. Driveability - very... power on tap except for a very very slight lag, may be due to the drive-by-wire system.
4. Puff factor - very puffed up... the Civic is a very visible car.
Minuses:
1. Petrol - RM110 for about 45 liters plus.
2. Steering - is it my imagination or is the steering a bit lighter than what I usually experienced with hydraulic-assisted power steering system that I am used to in the 7th generation Civic; and finally....
3. Had to buka puasa at the petrol station... but it was fun... Will certainly post more as I drive... |

Congrats on your new ride! I bet you're enjoying every minute of it. For me, I was taking every single opportunity to drive the car out when I first got it ;)
Oh on the steering, yours is a FD2 right? Its on EPS. Thats why it feels much lighter.
Since you've got your car, why not join us for our future TT's and of course, the annual dinner (11th October 2008) at Sunway Pyramid's Republic?
You can register for the dinner at the Upcoming Event's thread. Cheers! |
