Have been eyeing for an absorber upgrade recently as my odometer is almost clocking 60k. Not that there’s anything wrong with my shock absorbers with stock springs but backside itchy.

Have been contemplating between mugen soprts or koni FSD. My priority was comfort without sacrificing performance. Therefore either one of these will be sufficient for my liking. I knew coilovers would never be my taste as from many feedbacks I’ve read the softest setting can never be better than stock absorbers. As usual after some lengthy thinking and consideration with some excellent reviews by some of our bros who fixed the fsd …. I had made up up my mind ……the koni FSD would be my cup of tea.

Desmond (KL Auto) still had a couple of FSD sets with him and thought better grab it for now. The installation was performed by desmond’s tyre shop neighbour who actually has had experiences in the past installing the fsd. I was not present during the installation process..but took them half a day to complete the installation plus doing wheel alignment.A very well done job professionally…Des if u are reading this please thank them for me.

I can say I'm very impressed from the overall result. Since the first drive after the install I can assure my stock comfort level was not only maintained but improved tremendously. The car feels as smoother than my stock setup. During my initial drive the bumps and pod holes (which are many at desmond’s area of damai complex) which can be felt, but now without any harshness..Very impressive !!..I would definitely say no harshness at all just like a true conti car feeling ! The usual dreaded thumping sounds on pod holes are now a muffled thump ! The difference is especially noticeable when driving over a patch of rough pavement that has multiple bumps and abrupt ridges in succession.

Regarding handling I can say I'm no driving guru, but my feeling is that the car has improved vastly regarding many aspects. First let's talk about diving: WOW!! before I used to feel the car incline hard when braking, now I can hit the breaks hard, and the car will come to a stop in a fast, secure manner without the associated dive (it is actually quite incredible the first times).
Regarding corner handling, I can say my car feels stiff in the corners and twisties on the roads just before my house, although I haven’t really got a chance to test its full capabilities yet..but yes the car is very very composed I can push it harder than before felt as if the car had more grip. With my only 40% thread of my 215/45/17 PP2 doughnuts the feeling was great Laughing
Overall I can say that I love the FSD's and I would recommend it to anyone looking for great comfort level, with improved handling. Coupled with my full house autofoam I can say it didn't turn my car into a race level sports car in regards to handling, but I can sure feel the difference and my car feels somewhat more secure in the road, at high speeds. It is amazing how the suspension is so smooth for driving in roads with pod holes, while stiffening in the corners of good roads…..hence the term fsd (frequency selective damping) Currently I’m still using my original springs..not intending to lower the ride. I was told by desmond that the butt is a little higher now but it can come down when I actually speed. For your info I had actually removed my summit H bar and the summit rear tie bar ( leaving behind the summit front strut bar and UR 16mm ARB) prior to the FSD installation. Thought I would like to test the original fsd without the 2 summit bars to see its results.. Now not sure if I would fixed back those 2 bars again after the fabulous experience on the stock FSD..The fsd has indeed transformed my driving experience to a new all time high level now. Very Happy
For those bros who prefers a new driving experience without lowering the ride and those not willing to sacrifice the comfort for performance I think the fsd is the way to go!
cheers
Wink

Doc, thanx for the great FR on the FSD.
You are spot-on, for those who looking for Improved comfort WITH Enhanced handling, Koni FSD is for you.

Deca, Doc wanted to test his new suspension "au naturel". No sambal, chili sauce etc Laughing

Koni actually rec. the FSDs with Eibach in their website. The Koni Sports is more for spirited driving ( like Coilovers) but you may lose a bit of comfort here.

Alvin, Koni FSDs are currently Rm 2680 per set. So Deca, cepat cepat. Twisted Evil

Cheers,

Desmond

It has been more than 2 weeks since I installed the fsd...just a short review and update here..
I felt the comfort level has increased to another level when I first insalled it 2 weeks ago.The car is now more composed and very very super comfortable. Despite my aging PP2 tyres on board the ride still feels fantastic. Almost absent body roll (not noticable).
I was zooming on the new LEKAS highway just now at average 170 -180kmh my other half did not complain at all Wink
The ride was more comfortable now compared to the earlier stages and I think the fsd also may need some break in period...not too sure if this is true.
I'm still running on my "stock" FSD without the additional H bar and RTB and I think I'm pretty satisfied with the current setup.May consider reinstalling the bars later. Very Happy
