Hi Sifoo's,
For FD2 fog lamp i udnerstand it is H11. H11 here referring to the brightness or the connector size/bulb size?
If my purpose is to put in much brighter Fog light - halogen type, what should I look for? |

H11 is refering to the bulb size. Brightness is normally refered to in 4300k(Stock FD2 Headlamp Discharged Brightness), 6000k(Pure White), 8000k (Bluish White), 12000k(Pinkish White). Please bear in mind that the higher the intensity goes, the less visiblity you will have under rainy and foggy condition. Im on 8000k Headlamps and if Im coming down from Genting at night, Id rather turn off the light than have it on. Seriously!
If youre looking for a brighter foglamp and higher visiblity, I would suggest the PIAA ION yellow bulbs BUT bear in mind that these bulbs are PURE yellow. They give remarkable results in visiblity though. These bulbs cost around Rm 200+ I think and their not HID bulbs either, just normal bulbs with no ballast.
If ou dont like the fact of having pure yellow foglamps than I suggest you go for a HID kit with 4300k of brightness. Visibilty good and police wont kacau so much as its still yellowish. Once you go 8000k then its purely just for looks as the 8000k brightness will lose out to the 4300k and I dont even have to mention the ION yellow bulbs as it is in a class of its own.
Hope this helps |

K stand for Kelvin, measurement for the color of temperature condition the bulb is working in. Its like fire.....u get red flame, blue flame and purple flame depending on the heat temperature. HIDs perform at very low temperature, that why the light is so bright but u dont feel any heat coming for it. That is becos it use almost 1/10 of the Watt that a normal halogen uses. Normal Halogen bulbs burns a filament as a source for light whereas HIDs ignites gas inside the capsule by firing 2 electrodes on 2 ends of the capsule at each other (like firing 2 Telsa coils at each other in Red Alert ). The beauty of this gas is it burns very brightly at very low temperature. The color of the HID or the Kelvin is controlled by adjusting the impurities of the gas to burn at different temperatures. Note here that there adjustments are so minimal that u dont actually feel the heat difference between 4.3K and 10K but the color difference is huge.
One hell of a technology i wud say . |

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the explanation, and sorry for my ignorance and I think I'm getting confuse here but 4300K is the HID used for FD2 head lamp and the H11 in our fog light is just Halogen and not HID, no?
For Halogen my understaning based on one of the earlier post and your advise, the 4300K, 6000K etc is referring to the color for the equilavelent to HID and not the brighness.
But if I plan to put Halogen bulb and not HID, I should also look for anything lower than 4300K?
Is the current stock FD fog lamp is Halogen - 4300K as well. So I should look for 3000K halogen then, correct? |

Yes bro, 4300k is the standard FD2 headlamp colour and yes, our stock foglamp is NOT HID.
If you're looking for normal Halogen bulbs and not HID, better go for PIAA Ion Yellow. This bulb is PURE yellow and really helps visibility. I dont know bout how many k is the PIAA bulb but I know its pure yellow. |

Low Beam H7 55W 64210NBR
High Beam H1 55W 64150NBR
Fog Light H11 55W 64211NBR
Confused, can someone confirmed correct buld type for FD? Thanks. _________________ Best Regards,

Hey bro, from my experience of changing the bulbs, these are the sizes:
Low Beam FD2: 2DR
Low Beam FD1: 9006 or HB4
Foglight FD1 & FD2: H11
High Beam FD2: 9005 BZ242
High Beam FD1: Not Sure but maybe the same
Hope this helps |
