hi guys, just to share my experience with Ultraracing.
(its based on my personal opinion and feeling and by any means not to say other products are lousier)

Driving the new Honda Civic 1.8 on a day-to-day basis, there are a few noticeable behavior of the car that needed some improvement. It is an excellent family sedan fit for daily commuting and long distant traveling. However, driving it more aggressively and the comfort-oriented handling and rolling nature when cornering and braking surely beat the fun out of driving.

Rear anti roll bar (16mm)-9th Sept 2006
To improve rear end control and reduce rolling, I turn to UltraRacing as they have experience with chassis strengthening and come highly recommended by car enthusiasts (especially drifters). I installed the UltraRacing 16mm rear anti roll bar and immediately felt the difference.

I used to have to slow down a lot for corners as the rear will roll out of the corner, left and right rear wheels will be unbalanced and sometimes the wheel will even lift-off.
The rear anti roll bar pulls both sides of the suspension together to keep both wheels flat and turning as it should be. It’s kind of like cornering on rails, and no more feeling that the rear is going to swing out of the corner into the other lane.

After installing the rear anti roll bar, I look to improve the front handling of the car. Under hard acceleration, cornering and braking, the comfort nature can be felt as the car dives and understeers. The aim is to reduce flex by increase rigidity while maintaining comfort. To overcome that, I need to stiffen the upper and lower part of the car’s front. There is an original front anti roll bar, but it’s made of hollow metal and is not as good as a solid one. Especially with an FF car when acceleration and steering is all in the front, not to mention a heavy engine.

I installed the UltraRacing 4-point front lower arm bar to tie the lower front left, right suspension arms to the front of the chassis even more than original. For the top, an UltraRacing Front Strut Bar does the job of holding the left and right suspension chambers together under hard cornering. Together with the new UltraRacing Front anti roll bar, the front is more rigid does not dive sideways when cornering or doing quick overtaking maneuvers.

Rear lower arm bar (4 point) (prototype)-6th Jan 2007

With the front rigidity and handling of the car improved, I was recommended to install the UltraRacing 4-point rear lower arm bar. Performing the same function as the front one, the rear lower arm bar actually ties the rear wishbone suspension to the rear of the lower chassis right in front of the rear wheel arch. This increases rigidity and seriously reduces flexing at that part. It really wraps and tightens the rear end and works very well with the rear anti roll bar.

Side Floor bar (3point) (prototype)-6th Jan 2007


I was told that this is something new that has not been done before. Since the Civic is a long sedan, the front and rear then to flex at the sides from front to back. Only done in Japan for high-performance cars like the Skyline, Silvia, Impreza and S2000, the UltraRacing 3-point Side Floor Bar really locks the bottom half of the car, thus increasing overall chassis rigidity, especially at the lower half between the front and rear wheel axles.
Based on feedback from tech at Ultraracing, it would feel better than 'solidifying' the lower chassis.

I dont really use public roads to test, especially with other cars on the road, but it was during the drive about factory area near Ultraracing(a lot of 1 way road there), that I was really satisfied with the outcome. 'Tight and solid babe now has my civic become' Especially since it also meets my budget for chassis mods. Hehe

In total is 6 types of bars.
the rear arb is 3xx plus(can be purchased directly from them or reseller like quicksave,klauto),
front lower arm is 2xx plus(can be purchased directly from them or reseller like quicksave,klauto),
front arb (i got this done for my car 1st) the production is not out yet.
the rear lower arm, front strut bar and side floor bar are also prototypes and not yet for sale.
my estimation is that total for all 6 bars should be between 1.5k to 2k.
good thing is it comes with 3 yrs warranty and it does not require welding,cutting or any permanent sealing of car parts.
At the moment, only rear arb and front lower arm is available for purchase.

Walau eh...damn cool-lah....Just upgraded my rear ARB from Quicksave & hv yet to install the H frt lower arm bar....and now u tempted me again...... Very Happy Very Happy

u r super power la, so many bars below ur car, haha..
i will suggest at least go for UR rear ARB in the first, u will feel the immediate different after installed.

it was pleasant meeting u on saturday.

With the number of bars u put on your car, I think u put Karamjit Singh to shame. Simply astounding!!!

The ARB is a highly recommended mod! It simply improves the handling a few notches. Corners can be taken with more confidence, the rear moves in tandem with the front. Body roll (Civic's main weakness) is reduced significantly.

In fact, I find the steering feel a little lighter after the mod.

The cons
- i had autofoam prior and I can feel a slight increase in harshness after the ARB but not significant to the extent of being intolerable. In fact, just a small compromise for a world of difference in handling.

- the ARB is definitely heavier than stock

I think if handling is the utmost priority, u simply cannot beat the tried and tested struts and bars.

However, if u r the type who seeks to improve handling w/o sacrificing too much on comfort, then the Autofoam + ARB is an unbeatable combo.

Just for clarification. Are you saying that the autofoam could have caused the slight harshness after the ARB?
So, if I were to install only the ARB, there wont be an increase in harshness?
Please bear with me, I'm still a baby in car stuff.

no, that's not what i meant.

what i m saying is that contrary to what some forumers hv said that fitting the ARB does not affect comfort and has no noticeable difference to harshness, my experience is the opposite.

I had autofoam on prior, the ride was comfy and u will ride over uneven roads and bumps as opposed to crashing over them. I had autofoam for a full month b4 i installed the ARB.

Bcos of that, I could feel a noticeable difference (after installing the ARB) in harshness e.g. minor bumpiness (esp the baclk) when going over road imperfections.

It is negligible if u dont go hunting down the difference but bocs I am a lil' cranky when it comes to comfort, I could feel the diff immediately.

The Verdict - Go for it, brother. You must understand that for any mod, one department has to compromise for an improvement in another. The question is ur tolerance levels. And if u ask me, the very significant improvement in handling far outweighs a lil' compromise in harshness. Trust me, for the safety it accords - it's even priceless.

Am I right to say that on straight smooth roads whne the ARB is not working you do not notice the harshness?

in a nutshell, yes. If i use my butt as benchmark, on a scale of 1-5, 5 being very harsh, i will say that it is only a 2.
