just received my FD1 1 month ago...
so far (touch wood) no issues with it...
but didn't know that the cabin sound is sooo noisy... (which can be easily solve by changing the NCT5 to comfort tyre and soundproofing)
also expect the ride to be a bit bumpy which i suspect for the stiff suspension...
but overall.. loving it everyday |

You can read the thread about the new facelift issues...I'm having FD2 FL, and so far I'm happy about it. It really boils down to what your expectations are for this car. If you're expecting a continental feel for the price of 120K, you might be disappointed. If you want power, FD1 has sufficient power enough for you to overtake some japanese cars of the same class and smoke those overly modified protons and kelisas. If you need space, there's plenty for a mid size family and they will be happy with the comfort the FD can offer.
Read thru the forum on the soundproofing and tyre choices available, I'm sure in no time, you'll be drafting a list of what you need to do for your new ride. beware of the poison in this forum though! Hope this helps. _________________ I love to honk at Keh Poh Chi! |

I can't found out any issues is reported at this forum for new facelift.
I like civic, it look damn nice. after doing few days research. discover some of the issues like noisy, bearing, breaking and so on.
Some of the owner was complaim the FD has a serious noise issue, but I cant figure out how bad it is!! I tried city (2007 version) the noise still acceptable.
So, now I'm in between new car or second hand. of-course if new facelift solved those issues, I will go for new car.
Thank.... |

Maybe after this post, lots of our FL owners will ask you to go for it!
1. If City noise level is acceptable, then it's definitely better on the FD. But if it's still unbearable, then go for softer tyres.
2. Noise: depends on how particular we are. I know a bro who has his Soundproof he can't hear anything outside bcos he's very particular. So if item (1) is fine with you, you'll be happy with FL
3. Brakes: Yeah, I noticed that if I brake hard, there's quite a significant grinding sound. I guess this is due to the material of the brake pads. Some of our bros claimed with Honda to change to softer shoes. But under normal braking, it's perfectly alright. Unless you are a tailgater, braking is effortless and noiseless. Perfect.
4. My friend has a 2007 FD2 also, and he is very very satisfied with the car. Only difference is that there's no autolock function in the old FD compared to the FL version. Few autolock modes we can do actually:
a) drive to 15km/h (lock)
b) move gear from P (lock)
c) switch to P (unlock)
d) switch off ignition (unlock)
These functions are totally customizable by a few simple steps in the manual. No need for Honda to do it for us.
The older version FD has to manually lock and unlock.
Hope to hear about your new ride soon! _________________ I love to honk at Keh Poh Chi! |

You are the one who giving me confident on FD FL... .
all my friend ask me to go for altis.... uncle car
Thay said: Toyata car is the best, after xx years the car still giving u solid feel...... (is that good? is that bad compare toyata and honda)
But normally softer tyres not good for durable. again I just done a research for the tyres. best for reduce the noise is Yoko DB ES501.
(dont know the price) but do this tyres long lasting?
Soundproof can't hear anything from outside.
Sound interest, may I know how much to get this poison.
Last. what do you think for while color FD?
I like it and scare need wash it often (like the FD become my boss and everyday need to work for it. )
Thank |

Altis also have it's good points, and I don't doubt it's quality. My cousin who drives the new altis is also happy about his car. Choice again.
ES501 is highly rated by our bros here, so go for it! if not mistaken it's 400++ per piece, depending on the promotions given. Soft tyres can give you less road noise at the expense of faster treadwear, so it's your decision to take your pick. I personally feel that the FDs car handling is so good it makes us want to take corners pretty fast, so good set of wheels is important.
SP doesn't really make it totally soundproof, but reduce the critical noise from outside. It can range from 1000 to 4000 depending on the package you want. You can read all about it in the ICE thread.
White is pretty cool, like the type R! If you have cars of other colour, you would still wash it right?
Quickly book one to avoid longer waiting period! _________________ I love to honk at Keh Poh Chi! |
