Yes i agree that PP is the best. U should look around all the different shops available in Ipoh before deciding bro. Or u can also check out our panel shops at the bottom of our Forum Index.

Btw, just want to ask is FRP same as ABS or PU?

FRP is Fibre Reinforced Plastic (if i'm not mistaken).its the most fragile material, surface condition is not as good as PP, PU or ABS and much cheaper.since we still have option, then dont go for FRP, just do some research first from feedbacks in dis forum.it might help a lot.

I guess for everyone's reference, I'll just post what I know about bodykits. Please feel free to correct me if I said anything wrong.

Bodykit Materials
============
In the market, there are essentially 6 types of materials that are commonly used to construct car bodykits. These materials are :
- Fiberglass (Fiber)
- Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP)
- Polyurethane (PU)
- Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Carbon Fiber (CF)

Production Process vs. Price Factor
=========================
I am sure most of us know that for example, a fiber bodykit is cheaper than a PP bodykit. But on the other hand, how does our panel shop offer us such attractive prices for a PP mugen bodykit?

Okay, before I answer this question, let's look into the production process of the two mentioned materials. To construct a PP bodykit, you will need a factory with heavy industrial machineries. In other words, you need machines that can create the polymer in its exact chemical composition, handle it while it is in its liquid form and finally with a mold, shape it into a bodykit. This production process as you would guessed by now, is insanely expensive.

To create a fiber bodykit however, you would only need a workshop. I am unsure about the exact details of the production methods but essentially you can hand mold the bodykit, fit it onto the car and subsequently touch up and smoothen the overall shape....all by hand. Though the process is tedious and requires alot of skills and craftmanship, it does not need a heavy investment for machineries.

So back to the question, why is our Mugen Bodykit so affordable? That is because it is MASS PRODUCED. If you are to compare a custom made PP bodykit to a custom made fiber bodykit, the price of the PP would be atleast 3 times higher. But when mass produced, the prices drop by alot and most of us here get to enjoy the benefits of it!

Which material is the best?
===================
This has been a question asked countless of times. The answer in my own opinion is.....DEPENDS!

Questions you might want to ask yourself when choosing the material is:
- Is my bodykit a mass produced design or custom made?
- Is cost a factor?
- Is performance a factor?
- Will I be painting my bodykit? What kind of paint?
- Is durability a factor?
- Is SAFETY a factor?
- Do I want an easy repair if my bodykit is damaged or I would prefer to throw it away and replace it with a new one.
- Which bodykit material in my location has the highest quality?

If you are planning on adding a Mugen bodykit, alot of us here would definately recommend PP. But what about custom made kits? We would have to consider the price and also availability of other materials aside from fiber.

Performance wise, we all know that the number 1 would be Carbon Fiber for its strength vs. weight factor. But we would also have to consider what happens when you knock it? CF shatters and there is no way to repair that. Also, in a head on accident, our bonnets are designed to crumple to absorb an impact. Will a CF bonnet do the same with equal results? Finally....as always is the price.

Finally, we need to think about the paint! As most of us do, we never spray our CF bodykits but what about other materials such as PU? We would then have to consider which part of the car will use this material and how is the quality of the PU bodykit. Alot of ppl dislikes this material but I have heard several good reviews about it as well.

I think there will be some ppl who are frustrated at me coz after reading this cerita panjang, still cannot answer your question, hahaha. But really...that is how life is; nothing is perfect, even Carbon Fiber!!! =p

Anyway...hope this info can help you understand your bodykit better. cheerrs!!!

Bro,
My car is about to roll out next week and I just got to know from a BK installer in Ipoh that he is offering a PPU material Mugen style BK . My doubt is whether PPU and PP are the same material or different? He said that PPU is the latest in market and better compared to ABS and PU. is it true?..kindly advice...thanks

just wanna share with everyone this info.

i am also buying a new car, asked about the modula ori kit. it is way expensive and very common, however it is made from good material and fit-finish is guaranteed perfect.

SA also said there is a local kit only 2800 for everything, asked around it is actually FRP kit from air master.
