Just read that the new Lexus LS will get some sort of scratch resistant paint. Sounds good or too good to be true? Smile

Might be usefull on my perpetually-dirty-from-mineral-stains car

Bro,
Many years ago, Nissan claimed to hv created the first "self-healing" paint and was first used on US X-Trails. It will still be scratched, but after minutes/hrs/days (depending on severity of scratch), it will heal by itself.

The German approach is to make the clearcoat as hard as possible (eg ceramic clearcoat).

This new Lexus clearcoat must be another new approach Very Happy
that uses elasticity to counter scratches. mmm...must ask some local Kansai Alesco guys about it.
