My car is approaching 100K.

I'm getting a low pitch "kong" sound when the compressor kicks in and a high pitch "tak" knocking sound from the compressor when it kicks out.

I've been servicing the air-con filter and cabin filter every 40K and 20K respectively.

Do we need to service our air-con compressor as well?

I'm just wondering, what else do we need to do cos I don't believe a word the SC is saying (which is service the entire air-con system every 20K)

Hi blue,

I'm no expert, but I thought those sounds are normal? It appears in my previous cars as well as the FD. Is yours loud?

I normally would service the air con only when it air is no longer cool or there's abnormal smells, regardless of the mileage. Otherwise, I will try not spending too much on this.

Hi bro blue,

Get the SC or a reliable technician to check the air-con magnetic clutch.. it could be failing. Refer to below discussion

I did not have this when the car was new. And the sound is getting louder with time.

Coolride has a point. I also think its the electromagnetic clutch.

Anyway, pls ask them to check the compressor oil as well.
Many of my customers cars, even after having serviced the a/c system, and topped up with gas, still experienced problems of compressor jamming. Upon inspection....tak cukup minyak Confused
