|

Dear members,
Recently I found out that my car (FD2, 2.5 years old - clocked 30,000km) has this loud engine noise.
The noise is like high speed ticking noise whenever I step on the accelerator. I even tried to engage into "N" and rev the engine constantly at 2k RPM... the ticking sound is very obvious at that RPM.
Went to SC and checked.. Foreman claimed there's no big deal but "Engine Tappet" noise... it's normal.. But if I insist, they can open the engine and adjust the Tappet level to lower the noise.

Foreman asked me to try RON97 instead of RON95.. I just switched back to RON97, but the sound still there.. Maybe I need to use few tanks?? No idea...
Sigh.. What should I do now? In fact, this noisy engine sound started after I left my car at the SC over night to fix the famous exhaust gasket. Checked the gasket again, but the exhaust is not the culprit.
Please enlighten and share if you experienced the same problem.. Thanks! |

i diy sound prove in front bonnet putting 2 layer 6mm isolution between black cover and inner bonnet, it does reduce engine noise _________________

If it is the tappet.. open up the bonnet and you should be able to hear the sound very clearly. _________________ Do not say things just to show you know what you are saying. Say things which only need to be said. |

After reading nearly all relevant threads in our forum, i come to one personal conclusion, ie. FD2 has got
a. more engine related problems
b. more sound/ noise problems
Just mho. Say what u want, i think its true....what say u |

Yeap... opening up the bonnet can hear the sound clearly.
Seems like all the SC also tread the common problem as "Normal"...
Who wants to get their hands dirty?
Anyone facing the same problem like me and Kevin?
I'm a bit skeptical leaving my car there for them to adjust the tappet.. In the end of the day, they might not fix anything at all..
Advise please? |

Other than the flex exhaust gasket.. I do not face any other engine related problems. _________________ Do not say things just to show you know what you are saying. Say things which only need to be said. |

I got grinding like sound from my FD1 engine. Mileage only 2K.
No problem in term of functionality, will check during my 5K service. Maybe is power steering pump _________________ Best Regards,

Just mho. Say what u want, i think its true....what say u | I'd agree with you if all the posters has 50% of the problems posted in the thread. Otherwise you need to put things in perspective cause it is a thread to post problems. |

Jus like to remind everybody, if u read the manual carefully, it should mention the valve clearance is to be check during 40K service, which meant ur engine top cover should be remove to access the part, with or without problem. But most of SC would only base on 'no complain = no problem = no need to check' but I believe they would still charge u as the charges is for the whole package of 40k service.
Most of time, the issue is that u hav to leave ur car a bit too long because they need to let the engine properly cooled down (approx 2-4 hrs) to do the tappet/valve clearance check and dont take the SC RUBBISH excuse that u need to replace the top cover gasket as u open it up or else it will leak.
Valve clearance CHECK and valve clearance ADJUSTMENT should bear different charges, normally the adjustment would be an extra of RM45-60 (depend on which K20 engine ES/FD) |

FUAH!! Change the whole bloody engine except piston?
Mine is a 2.0 just clocked 30k only... Now I left my car there at the SC and I bugged the SC Manager.. So he agreed to lend me a CAR...
Few days ago, they called me for car pick up. Then I test drive my car with the foreman.. the sound still there.. then I rejected the outcome and ask them to check again. |
