Picked up my mom at the airport at 6pm & went off for dinner.
As usual, got back home & tried to open the boot coz her bags
& some frozen food frm New Zealand are there but it won't open.

Talking about losing faith with our FDs' by our Bro G1007...!
Heck! Barely a week after my steering rack prob solved & now
this. Tried meddling with cable frm the driver's side the boot still
won't budge open. Got my in law pressing the boot with great
force while I kept on turning the key/boot lever with no success.

Caused me a lot of stress due to my mom's frozen food in the
boot that I took the initiative by taking off the back seat in case
I may have a chance of gaining access there but of course the
chances are very low due to 2 levers in the boot for folding down
the seats. That'll be a prob too...!

Anybody out there encounter this? Fuel lid can't open ada ler...

Bro, bring back to SC to check. IF reli kena sabotaged, no choice, kena change the whole lock but before that, try to open the driver side key hole can open or not. IF still cannot, must be kena 101%sabotaged...resulted the mobilizer alarm system maybe not working properly...Better check the whole things for safety reason.

Bro! Both keys (spare) & alarm system are working fine. I suspect
the culprit would be the lock itself frm the boot not functioning.
The spring gone kaput...?

Actually, managed to open up the boot since last nite with a bit of
luck by 'banging' the lock part frm outside while pushing/pulling/turning the boot/keys up/down/right. Quickly took out everything
then close it back. Of course b4 closing it back, sprayed some
clearcoat grease on the lock itself & what happen is anybody's
guess. Unable to open it back Evil or Very Mad

Donno whether to sit down & weep or to laugh...

dear bro neilfyre,

omg...i'm so sorry to hear that you have a problem with your car boot....i wonder why HONDA cars nowadays have so many problems...i thought there might be 1 or 2 in a hundred cars to have faulty parts...now it seems that almost every friend i know whom is driving a civic have had problems with their car even it was bought new!

have you went to any SCs to check your problems? going to an SC gave me disappointments too...IMHO, the Service Guys at the SC are not really professionals in fixing problems in a car...i have seen many who went back even after fixing or claiming for warranty that the problems still exists. or maybe there are too many cars to fix and they just have the 'cincai' attitude to just replace the parts and that's it...without even trying it out again to confirm that the problem is solved.

even my proton satria / wira didn't have so much problems...though proton's quality was not up to par...but they do not have so many problems...at first, i was thinking maybe our expectations on our civics are a bit high, but i don't think so now...the problems that i am facing now have never existed in my experience of driving 2 previous proton cars!!

proton satria / wira = poor quality but no so many problems (probably water seeping into the car / poor body panel fittings / reverse sensors problem / other minor problems...) Sad Sad Sad

honda civic = quality OK (not really that good) but many problems!! (engine mounting / steering rack / absorbers / CD player / bearings / interior plastic popping up / boot can't open / etc etc etc....) Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Bro G1007,

I'm not sure how many % locally supplied parts since our Civics
are CKD but I can assure you that those are the culprit (local supplier) behind either minor or major probs we all are
encountering e.g poor fitment & finishing on most plasticky part.

My 2 cents...

Sorry for the late update on this issue. Just got back from
outstation. Prob had been rectified & it was a loosen screw
which was the culprit according to our SC here. It kinda jammed
the spring & caused this.

Now boot okay...

You're lucky man.....mine cannot open also but discover EDthe boot lock being broken where someone using screwdriver inserted trying to open my boot. The lock was gone and need about RM200 to restore it at SC. Please pay extra attention while you choose you parking place.....SC told me many FDs being kenal......I'm in JB area. Don't know whether they want to steal your things inside the boot or the car.
