|
|
Dear Sifus,
Am going to get a D-Din HU installed this Friday. Am considerng between these:
1) JVC AVX-826
2) Pioneer P4150 DVD
I considered Kenwood -- but not keen on having GPS, DVD and Music all in one gadget -- complicated.
Also considered Alpine, but seems too complicated/sophisticated/expensive for me personally.
I've been advised by our arrow-shooting sifu that Pioneer got better sound, JVC got BT and better screen -- but all others about equally on par.
Those of you bros who have the above players ... anything I should consider before I make the choice between the two? |

Pricing between JVC and Pioneer is very little, JVC is less by <200 compared to Pioneer.
Kenwood is about RM900 more than Pioneer (probably cos it has GPS) |

Its just falls to sound vs picture quality...
IMHO, i'll go for sound over pics since u will hear more than u will see while driving. _________________ ~ don |

yeahlor, that's why more leaning towards Pioneer. But just want to ask those who have either of these models for some first-hand feedback on what they think of their HU. This Friday, sure to install either. I'll share the experience with all here on this ICE journey. |

Go for Pioneer if you aim for audio CD sound quality...
If aiming for DVD, go for Kenwood as it provides DTS surround sound feature which Pioneer doesn't have.
JVC not sure about its strength, the only benefit i know of JVC is that the 7" screen is detachable which other brands don't have, meaning can bring home and feel secured lah~
You may get Pioneer from Singapore which is less than RM3k for this model. Check Singapore FD forum under Group Buy. |

bro, was in Singapore yesterday. Chatted up one of the SG FD owner, they have two versions in Sing. One is cash and carry type (can buy in few places like Sim Lim), and another one comes with warranty from panel shops. The second type cost SGD1.4K++ which comes to about same price or more to here. I found another guy selling the first version in KL for 2640, but no warranty and he only had 1 unit. A bit cautious about this, but seems lot of Singaporeans don't mind. |

Buy with warranty one, bro. Hassle-free and secured purchase are important nowadays...
When I was thinking which brand to buy in May'09, I was comparing Kenwood with Pioneer and considering which brand to go too... It took me some times to do research and ask around those ICE friends.
I remember my hometown Batu Pahat is selling RM3.1k with warranty. You may ask around KL area again for comparison. |

I bought the JVC 826 instead of pioneer 4150 - better security feature--detachable panel and also bluetooth for hands-free. This thing really works especially you could talk over the phone while driving. feel assure-- parking at the hotel car park--
Pros from pioneer- better sound quality, able to display JPEG pictures for wall paper- better brand name-
again, it is entirely up to you to choose...... |

How is the sound quality? Did you install anything else into your ICE setup? Have you tried streaming over BT from MP3 or phone? |

they all work perfectly- the screen will display your phone battery, reception signal and even got speed dial for phone number. streaming from iphone and other phone also compatible.
sound wise-i think reasonable- as i am not SQ enthusiast- I have installed a pair of Helix RS competition series mid + tweeter+ alpine 12 inch woofer driven by orion extreme.
In fact, security is the most thing concerns me-- rest assure with the detachable panel- no worry with the hotel parking......kiansi |

Thanx to all your feedbacks. I went for the pioneer (with warranty )
Reason:
1) My priority more towards sound quality
2) DVD feature really doesn't benefit driver ... me
3) Safety wise, I think not easy to steal this player. Took them very long to install ... and no one in this forum ever experience audio kena stolen. They rather steal the whole car Easier.
Look at the system, I would say warranty is a must --- highly advanced device. Definitely need a good installer -- and Desmond did a good job for me @KLAuto. His panel also looks very good -- very similar to Stock Type R panel. So it looks like it belongs there. You guys can take a look this Saturday.
My wife still miss the stock HU look ... she said my car look too garang d, no more "pretty pretty". Now she wants me to buy her her own car ... say she will choose which car, and decide whatever she wants to put in it ... gonna be pokai soon. _________________ Manifesting a Dream |
