Yup... the subject like says it all. Any problems caused by using a windshield wiper to wipe most of the water away from the cars major flat surfaces (eg, roof, bonnet, boot) before going over with a dry cloth? Will it harm the wax layer? Of course will be using a clean new wiper blade... |

wipers r not meant for ur car body bro, furthermore FDs got so many contours on the body, u not gonna dry it thoroughly but give it lots of fine scratches n swirls!!
i rem watching on Fifth Gear recently, they put 3 cheap ways of washing car n see which damages the most on a properly wax car.
IIRC its drive-thru auto car wash, manual 'snow wash' drying with cheap towels and there's one using wiper blades to dry the car...
all of these 3 methods destroy ur wax surface with high score of 7/10
dun rem which is winner but doesnt matter right? its not good _________________ VTECster |

Wiper blade may not be suitable as the rubber is meant for glass surfaces.
Previously, I have used this dryer blade made of silicone.. to dry the flat surface of the car. Dries very well.. one wipe, remove all water from the surface.
Downside is have to make sure it is clean and free of small particles else one wipe, the surface will get scratched. Also the side is hard plastic, sometimes, if not careful will knock the car surface.
I have stop using it.. now back to microfiber cloth for drying. _________________ Do not say things just to show you know what you are saying. Say things which only need to be said. |

oh FYI, im using this synthetic chamois for drying.......very soft n ultra absorbent, nvr had any cloths so absorbent b4 was very amazed n easy 2 use, im not changing to any other clothes after this
i used 2 buy n replace microfibre cloths but its nvr so absorbent n tends 2 leave hairy residues as d cloth ages....
I dun hav d packaging edi but i know u can get it at DIY hardware stores or ENEOS
price ard RM15.90, worth d investment if u wanna achieve very dry surface with just 1 wipe across (the more u wipe ur car more chances of u scratching it) I can guess d reason u choose wipers is bcoz u wanna save time in car wash right?
for me, thks 2 it im not tired of drying my car anymore ---> im lazy as hell 2 _________________ VTECster |

I noticed that there are lot of carwash in jb area are using wiper to wipe-off the water for our ride. But i always stop them to do so, as it will scratch ur ride's body unknowingly.
Moreover, that's not their own ride, to them who cares!! Therefore, i always walk around while they are washing/cleaning, just to alert them that i watching them!! hehehe!!
Rgds

The infamous "wiper blade" to dry cars is a very Msian thingy.
It shows a lack of understanding, general laziness and a desire to get a job done quickly without caring about the consequences.
A Conti car company in PJ has been experiencing lots of complaints from their new car owners regarding deep scratches on the paintwork and glass. I became their consultant, and pointed out that their boys were doing a quickie 15min "petrol station" wash and using the wiper blade all over the new, imported 300K car before handing over to the new owner!!! |

Be careful with the Water Magnet.
From my own experience with 3 pieces in my shop, and using it
3 times a day, I found that after 7-8 rounds of drying in the shade, the Water Magnet was no longer as soft as before. Even worse, when I held the dried-up Water Magnet, it was no longer as soft as new. To me, it felt rough. Based on my testing it caused new fine scratches on a N.Black FD and my own Civic. Damnnnn!!!!
2 of my customers also experienced the same thing. I gave a "good lashing" to someone in Hypercoat and told them this is another classic case of a Meguiars product that doesn't meet its claims. Despite its fabulous, irresistable packaging, highly convincing claims, catchy name and a premium price-tag, it just doesn't perform and I gave it to my dad who's using it now to dry the dogs after bathing
If you still hv the WM, then make sure it's completely wet and dripping before using it to dry your FD. |

Just like the natural cellulose sponge that most of us have in the kitchen. When its wet/damp, its very soft and highly absorbent. When its bone dry, it shrinks and turns hard and scratchy. When its in that state, it absorbs water very slowly.
I think the water magnet behaves similar. |
