it is a standalone processor. so no need to change head unit. just add this thing to ori head unit will gain u all tuning flexibility.

for that price can buy Pioneer HU with in-built processor. Or, you can buy Alpine processor. But either way, stock HU has limitations on output -- so wonder worthwhile or not spending so much for this processor with stock HU.

My experience tells me that whatever processor that is integrated to our OEM HU can't give you the sound quality that equates a standalone HU (with the cost you meant at RM3.5K). Went through that route before and has since regretted.

With half the cost you might as well get a new Pioneer P80 or Clarion HX-D2. However, if you insist on the OEM outlook, then I guess the Audio Control EQT maybe be better since it has the EQ for ease of tuning. The rest might be more cumbersome.

For EQ tuning to work, the input has to be flat. Our stock has some strange EQ setting as default, and we need to do some "magic" each time we turn on the car to get a flat input. Otherwise, there will also be limitations for the EQ as the tuning would not be accurate.

Easiest way to test this is to plug an MP3 player that has preset EQs to the AUX in of our stock player. Notice that when a particular EQ is selected, the effect is not accurate/what you'd expect. So most of the time, I had to set the EQ to flat to hear the music clearly - thereby rubbishing any benefits of the preset EQs.
