They say

If you have passive sub, I tell you, the effect is much better. So those who don't want to change HU, that's the best setup. Leave everything stock, add in a passive sub and a good amp to power it.

The feeling is good enough for most, except for the crazy ICE kakis like me who have had been injected with the drug of bitter sweet ICE experience.

Cheers

No. Stock is using a DSP EQ that tones down the capability of rear speakers to balance with stock front speakers. If you turn to DSP FLAT, you're turning the HU to the right setting to feed into the AMP if you have one. DSP FLAT is also known as NATURAL Preset EQ.

Moral of the story, they gave us shitty front speakers, and 50 cents tweeters, and had to tune down the rear speakers so it would sound balanced in a wide range of music condition.

To illustrate this, choose a track like Michael Jacksons, "You want to be starting something" that has lots of bass. Keep playing the music throughout this exercise, listening to it carefully. Then turn off the player, press 4 and 6 together, turn on, set to DSP FLAT. Continue listening to the music so you're aware of the current playing levels of each speaker. Then ... Twisted Evil turn off, and turn on the player. The song will continue from where it left off, and you will immediately see the difference of before and after.

Bro blue,

Are you saying that they are 3 modes of setting? First, it sby default. Second, press 4+6 and power on to get DSP flat. Lastly, off and on back again, which give us the best sound quality? Shocked

I tested many times. It only give me either beforeor after setting sound quality. Ie.: either A or B. Once you set, no matter what you do, it will stay at those louder and more bass sound, until you off the key. Even though you change it to DSP off or flat, it seems no difference.

Well I'm not an expert on this system. Smile I don't know its intricacies. I don't know if there is a difference between DSP OFF and DSP FLAT. But usually, tuners tune to DSP Flat before plugging them into processors. That's why I've been advocating DSP Flat. I don't have the stock HU anymore, so can't experiment anymore.

Bro, don't call yourself idiot. I'm also new to this, can see my learning experience here:

For our car, the sub can go under a front seat, or at the back in the boot. Passive Subs need an amplifyer to power them. So to install them, you at least need a 2 channel amp (not sure if they sell 1 channel). Alternatively, you can buy an active sub ... but a lot of reading points to passive subs being of better quality.

HM didn't change the HU since 06. So definitely works on all cars.
