Prometheus,
This feature you referred to is commonly called "Keyless Go" and was very common in imported full-spec Mercs. I get cars equipped with keyless-go in my shop very often.
To my knowledge, the first small car in Msia to have this system was the
Mitsuoka Cute (aka Nissan March). I detail this car frequently, and yes, it's very convenient
However, many 2nd hand salesmen have mentioned that although it looks cool and sounds very convenient, this system is very easy for high-tech car thieves to "cheat" and disable. In this age where gizmos can even detect notebooks in your cars, this could be very true. |

The new BMW E90 has this feature. My mom's E 90 really just unlocks when you near the car and you dont even need to insert the key to start it, just press the start button and youre off.
Great feature and really is convinient hehe |

Do you think that's a good idea in Malaysia with so much crime around us? _________________ Manifesting a Dream |

Errm..I think its basically the same, as first, you'll need the key to start the car even if its nt inserted into any key hole, second, the thieves will still be ablt to take off in it with the key. So I think its just for convinience. UNLESS, what bro Pluto said is true and that it can be cheated. |

That would depend, I suppose, on the encyrption mechanism. Anyone can build an RF reader. Proper encryption mechanisms have very complex encoders that will change its code every second. Good companies will also control how many decoders they make and register every owner. If that mechanism is breached, then even I can make a device to receive, process and transmit. _________________ Manifesting a Dream |
