Just got my Hybrid 2 weeks back and sent it to SC for 1st service today.

Ask them to change engine oil for 1st service and the car feels so much smoother !

So I would like to check with Hybrid owners here if they have the following experiance with their ride.

1) Air con loud whirring sound when car just started and especially going at slow speed

2) Motor whirring sound under steering wheel when braking

According to SC both are normal.

Also anyone started modding their Hybrids yet ?
Went to see Desmond last week at KL Auto and got poisoned !!
Put in a Mega Raizin among other things to stabilise the voltage and the charging of the car seems better.

Cheers

Congrads psskw for getting a Hybrid...thats the way to go green. Actually the forum shld have a different section just for hybrids just like de Type R, what say you and our moderators. So all happenings and remarks are all in one section. I would love to read them at one section rather than look everywhere if at all owners of hybrids decide to post.

So enjoy yr ride and do let us know yr comments, eg power, smoothness, actual FC etc....just cant wait to hear you out.
By the way did you manage to get any discounts for the hybrid, I was told NONE....

Actually going green wasn't my top priority ..lol

Do agree with your suggestion to have a hyrbid section like the Type R section... so mods... any luck ?

You can quite surprised with the power and responsiveness of the car considering that its 1.3 cc
My wife took it to >140k on the second day while I was in my other car !!

The 0-100 is quite good due to the assist from the electric motor which has high torque. Above 100 you need to push the engine a bit to get it to respond but its still responsive. You can't however compare it the the Type R or 2.0 G force response though. Its still a 1.3 engine

So far I only manged average of 16km/l but I have been running it on economy ride. For me a full tank takes me to around 650km. But I have only pump petrol twice Laughing

Bro, so fast reply...good to hear abt de car's power up , surely cant compare to others. The sound that u complain to SC ...too bad that they say its normal of hybrid...only way is to blast yr sound sys.

This is exactly what was mentioned by Clarkson de ass#$@! so call bias car expert, that de civic hybrid is too noisy. Anyway u cant have yr cake and eat it .

Didnt you get any discount for de car ?.

Yeah yesterday was online for some time so saw your post Very Happy

Besides the sounds the rest of the car is pretty good for the time being. Some magic works from desmond should help solve the sound problem hopefully without breaking the bank.

Went to 2 Honda showrooms. The one in D'sara didn't want to give any discount only after a few calls they offer a small discount but the SA was quite good. Unfortunately her boss didn't give better offer. So went to a Sg Besi Honda which gave better discount.

Only complain is dont even bother getting loan from Bank Muamalat... until today which is 3 months now the officer still haven't come back to me on my loan approval !!! Evil or Very Mad
Went to MBB, done in 2 days.

Cheers

I drive a civic hybrid too and the sound is normal. It seems loud coz the car is very quiet! Some music will help to drown those noises Smile
not sure about your car, but my only complain is the battery's capacity. Does seem to go down to half from full charge quite fast if u a running up a slope for 5 mins or so.

glad to meet more civic hybrid drivers in this forum. Smile

hi bro,

full tank 650km is XX% city drive and XX% highway ?

im considering hybrid now as my months petro expenses is around RM800 for my FD2, if can jimat 40% 0r 50%, why not.

Toyota Prius need to wait 1 year to get the car if booking now and 170k abit pricey

hi and welcome to all hybridz owner.

i hope more sharing can be done on this forum.. so we learn more about this hybrid.

I have read a lot about honda civic hybrid US., and it is comparable in fuel consumption compared to Prius. (er.. it only lagged behind in the looks department - but that also depends from the eye of the beholder.. )

Apart from Kevin looi, I'm also contemplating on switching side to hybrid if it can save more than 30% of petrol cost, considering civic hybrid is now cheaper last year price.

I'm also waiting for any good news from this oct budget announcement by najib.. is any more 'green' discount for hybrid car.

er.. , apart from hybrid - are theere any civic members in this forum have add NGV to their car? If yes - then we also would like to know.. how much saving you can make from using ngv.

Thailand is quite far ahead from us in malaysia in this NGV (or sometimes called CNG dept.)

In US - there is a special Civic CNG model for those who want to drive on CNG plus the ability to drive on normal petrol.

I wonder if the CNG module can be fitted to our normal 1.8 civic here.

On behalf of the 8GCC Committees and Moderators, we will consider your opinions on the suggestion to have one specific section for Hybrid.

I will bring this up to Mr.P knowledge..

Thank you Very Happy

Oooh. thanks.. would be nice to have a Hybrid section.

My mileage at the moment is 80% highway and 20% city. I since highway driving is mainly on petrol engine, you dont get there is limited cost savings in terms of using the battery. Just as long as you maintain it at around 2k RPM.

Its a CVT engine, with a bit of practice, you can get it to 2kRPM even at speed. At 2k RPM, consumtion its slightly more than 25km/l according to the meter.

I manage to get it to 2k RPM on 130kmh. But since I am bit lead footed, my mileage only 15-17km/l at the moment.

Last week pass the car to my wife to drive, need to see if she has better mileage since she is 70% urban 30% highway.

cheers

Hi bros psskw and default,

I think you two are special, as according to the article on Paul Tan's site, there are only 100 hybrids in Malaysia as of July 2009.

With the exemptions on duty ending at the end of the year, the prices for the Civic hybrid and Prius will possible shoot up again next year. Very sad, look like our leaders don't promote "going Green" as much as they'd like us to believe.

We hope that more hybrid owners will join 8GCC, so we can set up a lively sub-community - right now there are plenty of Type-R's but hybrids are a rare breed!

The Honda magazine I received say around 200 Hybrids now sold by Honda.

Anyways, I don't think the gov will extend the tax holiday for hybrids...

To much protectionalism for proton.

My wife been driving it for 2 months now. Its been quite good and fuel efficient considering the weight of the car.
