Thanks for the info, bro.
Just wanna know your (and the guys) opinion, as far as SSBH is concerned, no doubt the brands which are recommended here are ProRS and Goodridge.
Whilst many have recommended Goodridge, but is ProRS good enough? I'm not really the racer-type nor am I heavy-footed all the time - but I do occasionally (well not occasionally but maybe once or twice a week) indulge in some spirited driving.
Secondly, if I were to install Project Mu's rotor on my car, would I still need to change my wheels to 17-inch?
I would like to know because since I was told that if I were to go for BBK, then it would probably not be possible due to my stock 16-inch. Well, that fine actually - but what about installing the Project Mu rotors? Can it still be fitted if I maintain my 16"?
Thanks again. |

EBC Green should produce the least dust, but some experience differently.
There is definitely brake dust on the stock pads ... = ) _________________

ProRS is good enough, locally made slightly cheaper i believe.
Goodridge is imported, cost slightly more.
Basically it depends how much you are willing to budget, you could contact the merchants for the indicative price and also stock availability.
For me, i went straight for Goodridge! =)

No you do not need to change your rims to 17". The disc if not mistaken is of the same size only or was it slightly bigger only ... caliper size remains the same.
Do read up the earlier posts as most would advise to change the pads and SSBH first, then brake disc in the end. This should be sufficient for occasional spirited drive.
If still not enough, of course BBK is the way to go. So you need to plan you priorities first and budgeting. If you can save and prefer to go BBK all the way, then dun change the SSBH, Pads and disc as you may result in some losses if u decide to go on BBK later.
My advise for someone who have been down that road ... _________________

A massive thank you to you, bro, for the simple-yet-detailed explanation which you have given me pertaining to my brake enquiries.
With all your advices, views and opinions, I'd say I have already made up my mind on what I need to splurge on my car.
I don't think I'd need the BBK as it would incur quite a hefty sum (not to mention I need to change my wheels to 17" to accommodate them - although BBKs are indeed remarkable in their own ways). So, I'll just be going for better pads, SSBH and the disc rotors. It should well be more than sufficient for me.
All-in-all, thanks again for everything Netken - and also to all that have helped contribute their knowledge in helping me in my enquiry. Sure hope to join you guys one day for your TTs and convoys.
Cheerio! |

Hi bro,
A rather "bland" question from a newbie like me - but could you be kind enough to tell me is the SSBH used for front or rear as well?
If yes, is it advisable to change both the front and rear to SSBH?
Thanks |

If u wanna put in SSBH, replace the stock hoses on your ride as a complete set..that way, you wont have the problem of "compliance", where front hoses and rear hoses expand differentially when you step on the brake pedal.
If there is a difference in the applied pressure due to compliance issue, you may get brake bias either at the front or the rear, thus changing the handling characteristics of your ride very drastically.
Even a very experienced racing driver will find such a ride extremely challenging to control |

Hey, thanks a lot for the explanation torxwrench.
I do intend to change both front and rear stock hoses too but being a newbie, am rather confused at first as to whether it is advisable to do so or not.
Now, I am definitely clear on this issue.
Thanks again and Cheers! |
