Compared to those older generation cars which uses manual choke, new generation vehicles are equipped with auto choke meaning when you cold start the engine, it will do a auto warm up aka 1k rpm etc.. then it will progressively drop to 0.8-0.9k rpm.
With that said, it is more prudent not to rev the engine before proper warm up esp if you are on mineral engine oil.
I know some of you think probably own the car 6-7 years only but if for some reason, the piston or engine kaput after warranty and before that period, you will have to pay a hefty sum to fix it.
Make more sense to take care of the car aka engine. _________________ Do not say things just to show you know what you are saying. Say things which only need to be said. |

all depends on ur luck la.
we only share good car-care habits ... still up to individual to practise it or not. it is not limited to only 1 car make ... all cars included, more so if yours is a performance car ... eg type R ???

hope u keep your fingers cross lo.
my bro's altis broke down when he keep tis habit like yours within 3yrs ... cos few times sit in his car, he terus start car, switch on aircon & step on it... his rationale, i paid rm110k+ for this car ...
as 3yrs ownership became nearer ... atf gear box rosak 1st then timing belt ... then something to do with the valve clearance inside etc etc... mileage only 30k+ that time.
there is no assurance wear and tear of mechanical parts can break down. each of our car has been tested with tolerance of at least 3yrs or 100,000km mileage, whichever earlier... based on normal driving conditions
however, if we do not practise some care on the car .... parts do break down eventually ... perhaps faster than should.
all boils down to owner car-care habits ....

For me...I will keep it for 7-9yrs only....I think its not really needed to warm up my engine.
If we want to keep the car for 15-20yrs....then need to warm up the engine.
Not to offend anyone here...just my point of view.
Thanks. |

Isit...scary la bro.....anyway...this is my first Honda....before this....I have owned Wira n Waja for 7yrs each.....never warm up the engine.....but.....both also never fails me....just normal service only.
I dunno about Honda cars....maybe must start to warmup the engine already for precaution. |

One thing for sure we cant always trust this 'chain-email' send from dont know the source....
I practice warm-up engine frm my previous car started from i got it and its never disappoint me as like in the article said. FYI my car milage was 250 000km when i sold it for my FD and its only 7yrs puls old. When i sold it the engine was in tiptop condition and i only done 'top overhaul' because my gasket head was leaking.
My car didnt have white smoke coming out of the exhaust like most of the car (my friends punya la) which younger than mine. Even the used-car dealer didnt complaint when he tested my car before i traded it in. (bare in mine my milage was 250 000 for 7yrs old car).
so as for the article...i trust my instinct and experience more than the article.....i dont know bout all of u guys. |

if u 'play' car long enough esp. if u r the kind who waits in workshop for ur car to b service or repaired.... u will learn alot from the ppl there whether the mechanic or car enthusiasts that hangs around in workshops hehe practical training counts
when i was much younger n new to cars, there was 1 time after i started my engine, straight away pedal to the metal but the engine rev cuts at 7,000 rpm instead of usual 8500rpm (b16a engine)
so i consulted mechanics n car fanatics......they all warned me not to ever do that again unless im looking to replace my engine soon
point is, if engine oil don't need to be warmed up, then why is the stock ECU stopping my engine from reaching redline? a protective measure supposedly.... _________________ VTECster |

Warm-up is still essential for what ever car u drive i believe.. Even sometime car maker claims that u dont need warm up and just drive.. , i think they would have bad reason for that. Maybe hoping that your car will not lasting and will be giving problem with tat kind of way of driving car...
I remembered last time. B4 taken up FD, I planned for E46 for last 2 years. Got into the beemers forum. Got really scary stories about wat the car gives headache to the owners... Such think that you never thought to be a wear n tare parts also needs to be one on the maintenance list.. SH*TT.... Luckily not buy. Or else, maybe im dried meat by now.... |
