Hi guys and girls

Took Car to Sutera Auto in JB and they was brilliant, First they quoted me for new carpet and fitting rm 550 then discounted it to RM480, then once ordered they removed all panels lifted carpets sucked out all water. replaced carpet and fittings and place lots of newspaper to absorb moisture Free of charge - this is till new carpet arrive next week (it's in stock).

They were great from start to finish, even got free hot drinks.

So once its done ill let you know how it goes.

Regards

Fozzie.

Best way to dry out the interior is to park you car out in the sun for a few days, doors and boot open.

If you can, don't refit the new carpet immediately- get the workshop to just remove the old wet carpet, drive around carpet-less for a week or two (just lay on thick layer of old newspapers as a temporary carpet at all the passenger foot wells). Give the car interior a chance to thoroughly dry out completely. Its a bitch with double labor, but well worth paying them the labor cost.

After the complete drying out, only then go back and have the new interior carpet fitted. You won't have the lingering damp smell only if the interior is 100% completely dry...speaking from previous experience...

Thanks torxwrench

I was only thinking that today as its now starting to hum a bit although i have been putting news papers down and changing every day.

i should remove the carpet, in fact ill call them tomorrow C if the new one has arrived and discuss them taking the carpet out now and drive around until new one comes - good idea because they said it would have to stay with them for one to two night so they can make sure its completely dry - but i agree with you think it will need more time.

Ill update you progress soon many thanks again

Fozzie

Well got the car done and picked it up. Not only did they do a good job but it only cost RM409 total insted of the 480 they quoted

It's so good to have her back - knowing i can go out in her any time i wish, but spent most of the nice day washing her and giving her the nice shinny look.

regards

Fozzie

Hey, if there is stil musty smell, try asking ard those auto upholstery shops, some of them have steaming & drycleaning equipment for these type of situations.

My old car got into an brackwater earthdrain once & 2nd time forgot wind up window. But after treatment each time, the car smells new.

Good luck !

Hi Bros

Well over a week now and its got no damp or musty smells, one thing i have been watching for is mist on the inside of the windows first thing in morning but NO nothing, this makes feel confident they did a good job.

Oh wow its so nice to get the car back, it's strange but when its not here i felt lost without it.

Any changes over the coming weeks ill let you know.

Many thanks for your comments

Regard s

Fozzie
