I ve recently added silicon dampers to my rear and front springs and it has improved my handling alot. reduced the nose dived, "frogginess" and most of all the "riding the boat" sensation. Cheaper or temp solution to the mugen/tein/koni fsd i guess. thnx for the technical assistance dr chong of klauto.
kind regards |

hi casper, sorry i m n old gig, dunno how to upload pics, i ve even got bro coolride to register for me in this forum thats how bad i m. dont mind to drop by @ kl auto or tt if u wanna have a peek. its a stick on to the springs and comes in several sizes. the guy who brought it in is uncle lai who happens to be desmond's klauto neighbor. its cheap and it works for me. I m not a hard driver but it handles well in the straight and @ corners.
btw i m on 50 series toyo's and the side wall is wee bit flimsy n i m on autofoam too. the silikon damper does help alot. I dont believe its as good as a mugen/koni/tein suspension, but its good enough to provide me a window before stock suspension kaputs!! maybe i m pushing the window too long who knows....

no problem bro.
i'm in working in penang thus KL auto is far for me or even a TT in KL. i'm very practicular about car handling but does not like to give up too much on confort.
this stick is kind of interesting to me, how much it cost? handles well as you describe improve cornering or comfort?
cheap and effective always a way to go but always never come close hope this is different |

did nt realised ur in penang sorry bro. its actually a silicone ring that is stick on to the coil spring, its a pretty new experience for me too. cost between rm200 to 300 per pair pending on the depth of the ring. its all experimental bro. i presume it does nt affect the warranty. put it this way i ve got an estima with a trd sportivo suspension, i d say i m about 70-80% of the feel and handling. its not apple to apple but thats the best i can describe it for u. The only predicament is i dunno how long it ll last. I m probably going to order for spares this week end . fyi they use to have it in black rubber stuff, not very lasting n effective i was told. but it is now made of silicone.
if u want comfort, autofoam the car bro, it would make a world of difference. but autofoam can only mask the handling not solving it. my 2 cents

thnx bro jackson, yup thats the one we re talking about. klauto had only for the rear which i fitted earlier, they dont have the front dampers. uncle lai had the front. whats happens is when i fitted the rear, the back is ok but the front is a menace, now with the front fitted its more balanced.
thx bro

u r probably rite bro, but it does mitigate the bounciness and the steering seems to be bit more stable. anyway the deal was if it works the buffer stays if it does nt than its off. i ve opt to it to stay.

to me, as long as it does not harm the spring n it does its job, that's good enuf... like wat bro deca said, wit tat range of $$, this is kinda entry level to workaround wit the bounciness... _________________ _______

bro, i really like the word entry level its actually not enuff fund to go for the real stuff ie mugen/koni. Just got the car for only a month =budget constrain. but wat i can say is that the "gayatness" (if i can borrow a malay term here) is literally gone, and the toyo t1r and autofoam is in play now without compromising the comfort.
kind regards

hi bro deca,
i m not really a technical gig as some of this guys here, i reckon if you ve got the sports springs without changing the absorber it ll be bouncing here and there then maybe the buffer would help a wee bit. but if you got both changed i dont see the need for the buffer. but des thinks otherwise though.
btw did you get the front buffer installed too? |
